FAQs

FAQ's for  NON-CONTACT COURSES:

What is your refund policy?  If you are not fully satisfied with the course material and you have not started the final exam, we will refund your full purchase price if you notify us within 30 days.   After 30 days, or if you have started the final exam, there will be no refunds given.

How long do I have to finish a course?  You will have 180 days to start and complete the final exam from your DATE OF PURCHASE.

How do I take the exam?  You must return to SuretyU.com and log in with your user name and password.  The link to the exam will be easy to locate on the screen once you have clicked on the course in your dashboard.  Exams waiting to be taken from your purchases will have an orange button that is operable when clicked.

What happens if I don't finish within 180 days?  If you have downloaded the course and/or started the exam and failed to complete before the 180 days is up, your time will have lapsed and you will have to repurchase the course.

What is considered my course completion date?  The course completion date is the day you successfully upload your full test responses.  You will be unable to upload a partially completed exam, however you can leave and return as often as you wish during your 180 days until you are ready to submit your answers in full for grading.  As you answer each question, your progress is automatically saved, so you can pick back up where you left off.

What is considered a passing grade on the exam?  A passing grade will be 70% correct or higher.

What happens if I fail the exam?  If you fail the exam the first time, you will be allowed to take the same exam a second time within 30 days of your first exam completion date without any additional charge.   Simply follow the same procedure as your exam link will remain active for 30 days.

What happens if I fail the exam a second time, or do not take advantage of the 30-day window to retake the exam?  Upon completion of the exam a second time and failing, or if you failed to retake, and finish, the exam a second time during your 30-day window, you will no longer be able to access the exam.  You will be given the opportunity to repurchase the same course at 50% of the original price, however there will be no refunds or free retakes offered with this reduced price course, and the exam will be a new random set of questions.  You must make this reduced-price purchase and complete the new exam within 90 days of your second exam completion date.   Your exam will be available to take for 90 days from the date you purchase the course at the reduced price.

What happens if I fail the course for the 3rd time?  We would not expect this event to ever occur, however, if you did fail for the 3rd time using the reduced purchase price option, you will have no further opportunities to retake this course exam without purchasing for the full price and starting the process over.

How will I know if I have passed or failed the exam?  You will be provided a Pass of Fail grade immediately upon submitting your final answers, and your Certificate of Completion will be available for you to print.  Per DOI guidelines, please keep your certificates for 5 years.  You will be able to reprint your certificate online anytime.

Will you be notifying the Department of Insurance for my Continuing Education Credits?  All course completions will be sent to the DOI by SuretyU.com within the time prescribed by the state regulation.  For CA the requirement is 30 days however SuretyU.com will strive to get all course completion details to the DOI within two weeks.

Why can I no longer download the PDF File on a purchased course?    Upon purchase, you are required to download the course.  It is recommended you save the file if you wish to refer to it in the future.  After one year has elapsed from your original date of purchase, you will have exhausted all opportunities to take the exam under the time constraints allowed and the course will no longer be accessible to download.   The course title will, however, remain in your purchase history along with exam results and the ability to print the certificate if you have successfully passed the course.

FAQ'S FOR CONTACT COURSES:

How long will it take for my CE credits to appear on my DOI license account?   If you have attended the allotted time and properly signed in and out during the course presentation, your credit hours will be uploaded by the presenter to the DOI.   Your presenter will strive to complete the upload within 48 hours of course completion but in no event will the upload be longer than the time prescribed by CA state regulation.   Please note that SuretyU has no control over the timing of the upload by the presenter, nor the timing of the DOI on applying your credits, after the upload.

What happens if I am late to arrive for an in-person course?  To receive CE credits, all attendees of an in-person course must arrive on time, sign in on the attendance sheet and follow the instructions of the presenter for signing in and out for breaks.  Failure of an attendee to arrive on time, return timely from a break, or if an attendee leaves early, will prevent CE credits being given to that attendee.  SuretyU has no control over the attendance sheet for in-person courses - attendees will need to contact the presenter if there are any questions on your CE credits after the course is completed.

How is attendance monitored with a web-based platform contact course?  At the present time, the presenters use the Zoom platform to offer contact courses without physically being in the same room.   Zoom provides a log to the presenter with full information on each attendee - when they have logged in and if they log out during the session.   Class sizes are kept small, so in addition, your presenter will be able to monitor if any attendee leaves the screen during the course as all attendees will be required to stay in visual contact by enabling the video option on their screens.  (All attendees will be notified in advance of the requirement to have video availability on their computer, laptop or streaming device.)   SuretyU has no control over the attendance monitoring for Zoom presentations - attendees will need to contact the presenter if there are any questions on your CE credits after the course is completed.
